Pharmacist Prescribing
Your Murphy’s Pharmacist can prescribe medications under certain conditions. For instance, if your prescription is expired and you are unable to see your doctor, a pharmacist can assess your situation and may be able to extend your prescription to avoid an interruption of drug therapy. Your Murphy’s pharmacist can also, under certain conditions, provide emergency prescription refills.
Murphy’s pharmacists can assess and prescribe for a variety of common health conditions referred to as common ailments. Why wait at the after-hours clinic or for a doctor’s appointment when your pharmacist may be able to help?

What is a common ailment?
Our pharmacists are qualified to assess and treat common ailments. A common ailment is a short-term, less serious medical condition that does not typically require blood work or lab tests. Examples include cold sores, mild acne, heartburn, hay fever, fungal skin infections, and yeast infections.
Murphy’s Pharmacists are trained to assess your common condition and prescribe a prescription medication or make a recommendation for an over-the-counter medication. If the pharmacist believes your condition is more serious and requires follow-up, they will refer you to a doctor.
To reduce the need for emergency or urgent care visits, ask your Murphy’s Pharmacist for help! Get expert advice and treatment for common ailments without the long wait.
